The Mansion is reborn in 1997

|
|
The original electrical wiring throughout the home is known as Knob and Tube. Although no longer used in the mansion, an exhibit of the original wiring may be found on the North wall of the Red Room entryway. This ceramic tube & dowel system was used to protect the wire from touching the wood support beams, however, the electrical wire is not protected from rodents or other forms of exposure, and subsequently, this system harbors an increased danger from electrical fire. Ironically, though rarely if ever used today, this form of electrical installation is still approved under the Tucson City Code.

Wrought
iron chandeliers and lighting fixtures were custom made to match
the original iron work of the mansion. |
|
Stained
glass windows and doors for the Atrium were commissioned to match the style
of the original tile still gracing the entrance of the Rotunda. |

Completed Kitchen

An
outstanding state-of-the-art kitchen, designed for optimal
efficiency, was also added during the 1997 restoration. Although
this modern kitchen is located on its historic site when the
Mannings resided in the home, the stainless steel walls and
equipment were new additions when the area was significantly
enlarged in 1997. |
The Kitchen's Beginnings
|
When
Levi Manning lived in the home, he used the kitchen's wine cellar to
maintain oysters which he kept alive with cornmeal so that they would
remain fresh for his parties.
